Visiting a dentist for children dentistry is not much different from visiting a dentist for adults. We typically provide fewer services for children because issues such as wisdom teeth, cosmetic imperfections, and tooth replacement are not typically concerns for young patients. However, we do offer treatments such as fluoride and sealants, which can protect the teeth from developing cavities and periodontal disease. It cannot keep it from happening, but it can provide an extra barrier for the tooth enamel.
Other concerns that may be addressed with children is an assessment for orthodontics. Poor bite alignment can result in damage to the existing teeth, including wear and tear. By correcting bite alignment, chewing and biting will not harm the enamel of the teeth.
